The Montgomery TEA Party

One Nation

Under God

general@tmtp-nj.org

The Montgomery TEA Party is an educational organization based in Montgomery Township, NJ, with the mission to provide awareness to our members and the public regarding legislative matters of significance and the ideological positions of persons seeking or holding elected office as evidence by declaration or deed.  We further seek to fill an information void on relevant issues that the mainstream media fail to fully address, and to correct factual information that they may distort to promote biased ideological points of view contrary to professional journalistic practices and ethical codes.

‚ÄčOur membership is comprised of residents of Montgomery Township, NJ and surrounding communities that believe in the principle of limited government based on Constitutional fundamentals.  We feel that our government and its elected and appointed representatives at all levels, from local to federal, too often acts unilaterally and without accountability to the American people, and is growing rapidly in size and influence at a rate that cannot be sustained without degrading the fabric of our society and the principles upon which our forefathers founded it.

As an educational organization, The Montgomery TEA Party DOES NOT endorse candidates, policies or legislation.  However, we demand openness of our elected representatives and encourage our members to actively support the candidates and policies of their choosing, and also to join us in sharing information with members of our community so that together we will all be better informed and able to responsibly perform our duties as free citizens of the United States of America.

We offer programs that we feel will be relevant and of general interest to our membership and our community.  We encourage TEA Party members and our fellow citizens to fully participate in these programs, and to advance ideas for speakers, events and initiatives in support of our stated mission.

Our Code:

The Montgomery TEA Party members share a belief in the basic underlying principles of the U.S. Constitution that define us as a people and a nation, and bestow upon us the unfettered freedom to reach our full potential as individuals to the extent that we choose to apply ourselves:

  • Our unalienable rights to Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
  • Popular Sovereignty wherein our government gets its authority only by the will and consent of the People.
  • Limiting Government by the division and separation of powers, constrained by checks and balances, and minimizing the scope and authority of agencies, unelected bureaucrats and unauthorized regulations.

Toward these ends we embrace and promote individual responsibility and exceptionalism, fiscal restraint, balanced budgets and the economic principles of private enterprise and free market capitalism that have made the United States of America the most innovative, prosperous nation on the face of the earth, and a beacon of Freedom to all peoples of the world.
